3rd Quarter Employers’ School – ADA Accommodations

In this session of Employers’ School, our presenters will share strategies to effectively approach the interactive process related to employee medical issues and the responsibility to provide reasonable accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA). When supervisors and management know how to properly discuss these situations with employees, the organization’s exposure to employment claims drops dramatically. This Employers’ School session will bring awareness and education to help employers better protect their company. 
In addition to understanding how the interactive process works for the purpose of determining whether a reasonable accommodation can be provided, employers will gain an understanding of how ADA/FEHA accommodation obligations continue even though an employee may have exhausted protected leave. Participants will receive tips on how to properly classify and track absences to differentiate between protected time, approved time, and unexcused time off.
